How to use our website

Search for Images
It is highly recommended that you log in before you search for images.  This will ensure that you are presented only with images that are available to you.
The BEImages website provides several methods for finding pictures.
The home page will always provide a choice selection of our stories.
But for the latest, date-ordered News and Entertainment stories, the Latest Section should be your first port of call.
The Latest Section

Here you can access the very latest material that BEImages has to offer.
Clicking on the thumbnail will present you with all of the related images for that story.
If you are logged in you can make your selection directly from here either by adding images to your lightbox or downloading straight away.
Click to add to Lightbox
Download straight away
See the sections Your Lightbox and Logging in and Downloading for more information.
Notice the date breakdown at the top left of the latest feed thumnails. Each one is an active link which will give you a complete selection of the material for the day, month or year.
You can also use the Archive Browser on the left of the screen.
Note that clicking on the YEAR link (eg 2007) will return the results in "Headline" list view only.
For a summary of the latest stories, click "Headline"
Again, you can filter here for News or Entertainment related images with text only links.

For more specific needs our Search Engine allows you to specify unique search critera to help you find the image you want from our archive of over 2.5 million images.
The Search tool
The Search Bar is located throughout the BEImages website at the top of the page.

Usage is simply a matter of entering your search term into the box then deciding whether you want to see the results ordered from the most recent images first down to the oldest, or the other way around.

Clicking:
Shows you all images found for that search starting with the most recent.
Shows you all the images for that search with the oldest images dislayed first.
Filtering Results.
If you are presented with too many images there are several ways in which you can refine your search.
If you know specifically what you are looking for you can add to the search terms. eg.:

Alternatively you can enter a broad based search and use our tagcloud search filter tool to further refine your search results.
Of course, you can use the two methods in combination.

Note that BEImages archives its images in Sets which can consist of a single image up to several hundred related images.

To view all images in a particular set, click in the set link underneath the thumbnail or at the upper right of a preview screen.

Important: When you view a set you view all images available to you in that set, regardless of any filtering you may have included in your search.

Set link underneath a thumbnail. Set link in a preview window.

Navigating Through Results.
Searches that return a large number of results will be displayed over several pages. Use the navigation controls at the top of the thumbnails to work your way through results.
Note also that when viewing previews (logged-in users only) you can also page between invdividual previews.
The navigation controls have the following effect:
Go to the next page or preview.
Go to the previous page or preview.
Fast Forward (skip over) the next block of pages or previews.
Go to the previous block of pages or previews.
Go to the first page or preview.
(Note: Not available in search results.)
Go to the last page or preview.
(Note: Not available in search results.)
Go straight to the next numbered page or preview.
If the control is greyed out, it is unavailable.
